No this isn't a picture of Dave Downer...my scanner is on the "fritz" so I couldn't scan the latest picture of "the Polski" but I knew that David wouldn't mind having Harley Sewell pinch hit for him as long as Dave got the credit. The Polski was oh and two coming into this weeks action but had a big weekend, after claiming Amani Toomer for $15, and his team total of 59.2 was tops for the weekend. Runner-up was his buddy Mike Meyer with 53.6. Meyer is on of three teams who have yet to taste the "agony of defeat"...at 3 and oh. In the weekly match games The Polski took his winning numbers (59.2)and applied them to Fong's Thong who almost got him, albeit for a Falcone fizzle in "The Big Easy", with 50. Meyer's Maulers bested the Pepparooski 53.6 to 45.4. Johnny tumbles out of the gate at oh and three. Hutch made it two in a row with a squeeker over winless Rocky and Bullwinkle as Rocky takes full blame for the loss as he took Wee Willie Parker out of the lineup and along with it 14+ points. Nice move jerko! Porter's Waggoner made it three straight with a 40.6 to 36.6 win over the Hog from Hillsville. Another struggling team is Zoet's Zeros in at oh and three after dropping a tight one with the Hopkins Flash 35.4-32.6. The other undefeated team is the Frenchman, aka Jerry Altena. By the way Jerry, I got your check in the mail and your receipt will follow. He beat Uncle Verno by the score of 45.8 to 37.6. In the last contest of the weekend. Ludcas dropped Downer's Uppers by the score of 41 to 25.6.
A couple of reminders. Those still owing '06 dues are asked to turn them in as soon as possible. Also, you can only have one Tight End in your lineup...he CANNOT be listed as a Wide receiver unless he is listed as a TE/WR like our tightend Colston from Atlanta is. Till next week....have a good one. Commish

Here are the claims for Saturday September 23rd. Polski won the A.Toomer sweepstakes with a $15.00 bid. He had to cut Marcus Robinson (can't claim until next week)to get his roster straight. Ludcas claimed Baker from the Jets for $2.25, no cut necessary. Altena reclaimed Droughns for $7.00 and he cut Brad Jacobs, who can't be claimed until next week. Hutch claimed Mike Vanderjagt for $1.25, no cut necessary. Scott Downer claimed Bubba Franks for $1.00, no cut necessary. Vern Palsrok claims B.Berriens from Bears for $3.25 and cuts Tynes from KC...again he can't be claimed until next week. Fongs Thong claimed Atlanta defense for $2.25.
Porter claimed Olindo Mare on a game day claim.

Well in week number two we still have five winless teams and five that have not lost. Old Hutch, wearing his beloved Michigan Hat, won the weekly pot with 68.8 points with his closest competition from Jimmy Porter with 48.6. Hutch wins the $40 first prize and Port takes home a ten dollar bill. In the weekly match games Porter's Waggoner beat R and B, which got nothing from the Steelers on Monday Night, 48.6 to 40.8. Hill's Hog kept the win streak alive with a 43.8 to 25.8 win over Downer's Uppers who let his line up "ride" from a pretty good opening day total of 50.6. Hutch had twenty four more points then his rival "The Hopkins Flash" who garnered a decent total of 44.8. Fong's Thong made it two wins in a row with his easy time over Zoet's Zeros (who so far are living up to their nickname) 46.2-29.8. The Maulers of Mike Meyer notched their second win of the season besting the Polski by the score of 45.6 to 43.2. The Frenchman drew Peppy this week so he wasn't called on to score too many points but did garnish enough to beat the Peppster 36.2 to 24.8. Peppy so far the easiest mark on the young season. Verno drilled Ludcas 41-38.2 to even both of their records, or should I say all three of their records since Ludcas is a joint effort in futility.

Here are the claims on the bidding portion of this weeks transactions. Porter's Wagon-her picked up E. Wilford for $2.25. Peppy's Boys got Deon Branch for $21.50; Reggie Williams for $7.50; Welker for $3.50 and David Rivers for $2.25. Roger Hill of Hill's Hog fame got Matt Leinhart for $3.25; Detroit defense for $2.75; I. Bruce for $8.25; Kevin Faulk for $5.25; Clark for Bears for $5.25; Furrey for Detroit for $2.25. Hutch got Maroney for $8.25 and Cotchery from the Jets for $3.00. The Polski got A. Randle El for $5.00 and Marcus Robinson for $3.00. Altena AKA "the Frenchman" got Chris Brown for $22.00, Michael Jenkins for $23.00 and Brad Jacobs for $12.00. Meyer's Maulers claimed Chad Pennington for $6.75 and Kevan Barlow for $8.75. R and Bullwinkle got David Akers and T.Colston for a dollar each. Had to cut two players as per roster size. Meyer had to cut Kitna because that would give him three QBs. and had to cut Ruben Droughns from the Frenchman because that would give him four runningbacks.
You can now pick up game day claims on an;y player not cut or has yet to play their game for this week.
So far the weekly claims have taken in $157.50 led by Altena with $57.00, Peppy with $34.75, Hill with $27.00 Meyer with $15.50, Hutch with $11.25 Dave Downer with $8.00, Port with $2.25 and May with $2.00

I can't figure out why slobs like Roger Hill win at these games. He got 15 points from a washed up Arena Football League QB and his kicker Adam V got him 14 points as his total rose to the top with 60.6. By the way the point 6 is because we are awarding (.2) points per catch. So if your team caught 27 passes, you would get 5.4 points awarded to your total. It helps break ties too. This past week The Frenchman and Meyer's Maulers got 55 points each, but the Mauler got .8 for his bonus catches, while Frenchy got only .2. Matt Wilfong had those SD Chargers and they got him 16 Late Night Monday Night points. Also 20 points from his kicker didn't hurt either. With his total of 56.6 gives him second place money. As in the past..$40 to the winner and $10 to the runner up.
Also, some of you fellas still owe me for your 2006 dues. More on that later.

Three are in line to win the opening weeks pot. Current leader, Jerry Altena aka The Frenchman, has 55 points while our man in real estate, Roger Hill is in perfect position with LT going on Monday night. Scott Downer has a good shot if Keenan Mac can have a big night....Brad Zoet and Matt Wilfong have a slim chance but not enough to warrant a
picture.

Andy wanted to remind all of you to have a great season and that you are ALL NUMBER ONE right now...but that will soon change. Tonight is our Auction at Eastern Elementary. I hope all will be on time. Some of you haven't signed in yet and we will do that before the gavel drops. See ya tonight! Tonight, Andy will be enjoying the Auction, and a few "cold ones", as he and Bobby Layne will be swapping stories of those old great Lion's teams
